The theme for the 2009 summer reading program is "Books Arrrr ... Great @ Your Library. Our goal is to offer incentives and opportunities for boys and girls to have fun at the library and READ during the summer.

Youngsters may earn and win prizes, participate in theme-based craft activities and enjoy special presentations throughout the program. There is no age limit or fee for participation, but registration is required. Registration was held June 15th through June 27th.

By reading 5 or more books during the summer, it has been proven, children will find their return to school in the fall easier. The Blackfoot Public Library is committed to supporting parents and children in meeting this goal and aiding them to discover the many "treasures" found in their local library.

Summer Reading is brought to you in part by Read to Me, a service of the Idaho Commission for Libraries.

Read to Me is an early literacy initiative which provides information, training, technical assistance, and resources for Idaho libraries and their community partners. Find out more at http://libraries.idaho.gov/readtome.
