Where is the library located?

The library is located at 129 N. Broadway in Blackfoot, Idaho. Visit www.mapquest.com to view a map of our location.

How do I get a Library Card?

Residents of the City of Blackfoot and the Blackfoot Rural Library District may apply for and receive a library card at no charge.  To register for a card an adult must fill out an application card and present photo identification.  For applicants under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must present photo identification and sign the application card along with the applicant.  For more information, please click here.

How long can I check out different library materials?

The standard circulation period for most materials is two weeks except for new adult fiction, which circulates for one week.

What can I do if I want an item that is checked out?

You may place a hold on an item when visiting the library or by calling 785-8628 during our regular hours or by submitting a request via the website here.  The library will contact you when the item is available for you.

How much are overdue fines?

Overdue fines are ten cents per item per day.

If the material I want is not available at the library, what can I do?

There are two ways to obtain materials from other libraries.

Reciprocal borrowing:
We have a reciprocal agreement with Aberdeen, Marshall Public, North Bingham, Portneuf, Snake River, and South Bannock libraries.  Once you have a card from your home library, you can obtain a card from any of the above libraries and check out material from them.

Interlibrary Loan:
If we do not own an item you want, we can try to borrow it from another library.  This service is limited to two requests per month.

Can I get a card if I don't live in Blackfoot?

Residents of Snake River, Shelley, Firth, Aberdeen, Bannock County, and library districts participating in LiLI Express who have a library card from their home library may apply for and receive a library card at no charge.  For those living outside the service areas, a library card is available at a non-resident rate of $15.00 per card and $30.00 per household per year.

Can I renew library materials over the phone?

Library materials may be renewed online, in person, or over the phone.  Materials may be renewed up to 4 times unless the item is on hold, in which case it can only be renewed once.

Can I email library staff?

You may contact a librarian via this website using the Ask a Librarian link or you may simply email us at libraryinfo@ida.net.
